Banksy vs Bristol Museum
Banksy v Bristol Museum (Bristol)
Planning, construction and site-management of hugely successful art exhibition, drawing 400,000 visitors over a 3-month period, making it the second most popular exhibition in the UK in the past decade.
• Long-term planning with City Council and key museum staff; handling confidential nature of project;
• Advocating with museum staff to gain support for the project, it’s aims and its scope; persuading officials to allow the museum to be ‘taken over’ for the duration of the show and for permanent exhibits to be moved for the first time in their history;
• Responding to fast-changing situations, managing the flow of information to client and public;
• Meticulous planning to enable more than 500 exhibits to be transported and installed in the museum in a tight 48-hour window;
• Writing Risk Assessments, ‘build and break’ schedules, detailed site plans;
• Working within strict museum requirements: careful removal of museum pieces, pre-treatment of all organic matter brought on site, handling of valuable exhibits;
Santa’s Ghetto
Santa’s Ghetto started life at the Dragon Bar in Shoreditch in 2002 and then moved in following years to Carnaby street, Charing Cross road, Berwick street, Oxford street and in 2007 onto Bethlehem in Palestine. I had the honour of working with some of the greats including MODE2, BEN (Eine), Jamie Hewlett, Blu, Sam3, D-Face, 3D, Paul Insect and a whole lot more. We generally took abandoned shops over smashed it up and hung a load of art on the walls. I was in charge of the build and hang of all the art. Lightings sound and a whole lot more.
Described by P.O.W as a “festive extravaganza of cheap art and related novelty goods from lowbrow artists and trained vandals”
Seems crazy that it has all turned into what it is today!!!
